Job applications Oct 12, 2022

We know how you feel. You start doing a couple of applications, and then you find a wall. We have all been there, and it feels quite overwhelming.

Motivation is a vital factor in any situation we are in and in every decision we have to take. For example, if you're a person who seeks their next job, and you have no motivation to optimize or update your resume, then don't expect a lot of positive replies.

So, it's important to find the best motivators and apply them correctly so that you can excel in whatever you choose to do!

Taking a step back, it's interesting to note that the word derives from the Latin word motus, which means movement. Clearly, people have used these words for centuries to describe something that gives life to ideas and deeds. Essentially, finding the right motivating factor can change our entire existence. It has the power to make us and everything we do better.

It's easy for anyone with an interest in improving their life to understand and refine their self-motivation techniques. This is vital since it drives innovation in all fields-from music to business management. From personal to professional improvement.

Check out all 8 steps below!

1. Start early

The earlier you start looking for work, the better. You want to get ahead of the game and have something to show potential employers before they even know who you are. If you wait until the last minute, you may not be able to find anything at all.

Create a timeline in which you will reward yourself with something you like every time you achieve the progress you make!

2. Be proactive

You need to do some research about what kind of job you’re interested in. Do some online searches and read reviews. Look at the company’s website and social media pages. Find out if they have any openings and how many people applied for them.

The more proactive you are, the more opportunities you will arise on your way. That way, you will have much more motivation to keep going!

3. Network

Networking is an excellent way to find a job. Make sure you network with people who work in the industry you want to enter. Ask them where they got their jobs and how they did it. Ask them questions about the field and what they think about the company.

Networking and in general business connections, can say from my personal perspective, that they can broaden your horizons and load you with opportunities and positivity.

4. Be prepared

Make sure you have everything ready before you start applying to jobs. Create some different copies of your resume and cover letter. If you want to apply to various job descriptions, then have different resumes for each one of those. Using resume templates can help you organize your information easily for each application. Make sure to also have your portfolio ready.

Having these things in place, saves a lot of time and so you have even less excuses/obstacles to face and demotivate yourself to keep going with the applications.

5. Write Your Career Goals on Paper

One of the most popular methods for motivating yourself is to write personal or career goals down on paper. This forces you to prioritize what's most important to you and identify things you want out of life.

It also provides a roadmap for achieving your goals. If you update your goals as you learn new things and experience new things in life, your goals will quickly become reality.

6. Find a friend or a partner to motivate each other

Having a friend who is in the same position as you, applying for jobs, is another great option you can capitalize. Most of us function better when we are doing the same thing, working together for the same purpose. Don't neglect this option!

Another popular method for motivating yourself is daily affirmations. These are statements that prompt you toward positive thinking and help you stay motivated throughout your life. Here are some sample affirmations that someone motivated by job security could use: 'I am willing-able- willing enough to apply for any job with high potential.'

7. Look Up Your Career Role Models

Who is crucial to the ongoing professional development of the next generation of workers? The typical response to this query emphasizes the value of mentors in imparting information and experience throughout a person's career. We frequently forget about the role models who might play a similar role in inspiring and driving the next generation.

Career role models can be found anywhere, inside or outside your organization, much like mentors. Throughout your career, you should have more than one. They can be people you know well or someone you have never met. Seniority is not the only consideration, even if more experienced colleagues might serve as excellent role models because of their extensive expertise.

8. Follow up

Finally, after you complete an application, send a thank-you email to the person who interviewed you. Send a follow-up email after two weeks asking if they received your application. After three weeks, call the employer and let them know you haven't heard back.

Don't just wait with empty hands while waiting for replies. This will demotivate you again and bring you to your first state. So, being occupied with the whole job application process will keep you in shape!
