New AI workers make between $53,000 and $184,000 annually. Most start at about $80,500 but pay quickly shoots upwards as their capabilities improve.

Smaller companies can't compete quite as easily with salary, but they offer equity in the company. In smaller cities, compensation for an AI engineer can fall between $90,000 and $120,000 and up plus shares of company stock if it takes off.

Tomorrow's Workplace
